Love Unity, collaborate was not really good, plastic is better in theory.
BUT, I can’t get it to work properly and I really can’t solve this problem.
Here are the main elements:
-I logged in to Plastic with my Unity ID
-When I saw an e-mail with stuff for a payment I was a little scared and I quickly cancelled my subscription (even if the price was 0$, I thought I may have to pay later)
-I quickly realized that it was just that the free edition system was poorly done and I resumed the subscription.
-But now (or maybe it was like that before, I don’t know) when I try to link a Unity project to Plastic I get the error: “The remote host has closed the socket”. However, I have a good internet connection and no network restrictions.
-So I installed the Plastic software to see if I could use it to solve the problem.
-I had 2/3 error messages during the installation (of the type: “not the authorization to install something”) but the download is finished without error coming from windows, I turn on my PC again and I launches Plastic.
-I am well connected with my account but I have the error “Cannot retrieve license information from Plastic SCM server”.
I don’t know where exactly the problem comes from so I’ll give you all the info I have.
This stuff really pisses me off, especially since there’s no way to get back to collaborate.
I’m really not against you finding better solutions for version control. But for now Plastic is not ready to be linked to Unity. It’s buggy, unstable, and above all not clear.
Have you installed Plastic Cloud edition (not Enterprise), right?
Can you attach the following file:
C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5\server\network.conf
Can you attach the Plastic client logs so we can debug them?
C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\plastic4\logs
Yes I downloaded Plastic Cloud edition.
(some of the files were too large for the forum so tell me if you really need them)
(also I had the change a copy of network.conf in a .txt to upload it)
8156381–1059986–plastic.debug.log.20220525.txt (1.43 MB)

Hi,
I can see your “network.conf” is using 8087 port. It means at some point there was a Plastic Enterprise installation on this machine. Can you let us know the process you followed to install Plastic SCM? Did you install it via the Unity plugin or you downloaded the installer?
Let’s do the following:
-
Uninstall Plastic SCM.
-
Remove the following files:
C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5\server\network.conf
C:\Program Files\PlasticSCM5\server\plasticd.lic
-
Install Plastic SCM Cloud edition. After that, the “network.conf” should be using the 8084 port.
regards,
Carlos.
I uninstalled Plastic.
I deleted network.conf but plasticd.lic don’t exist. Do I ignore it and install Plastic ?
Yes, if there is no license file, let’s reinstall Plastic SCM Cloud edition.
Hi, Is your actual Plastic cloud organization name PoemeStudio? Can you reach us at support@plasticscm.com?
We may need to arrange a meeting to debug your setup.
