Playable Director moves GameObjects and Characters

I’m trying to make Cut Scenes using Playable Director. When the player (or certain objects) hit the trigger, the Playable Director should switch to the Cinema Camera, and animate the objects/characters. This is working, but when the animations start, the Game Object is moved to a completely different location, instead of playing the animations in place.

This is an enemy boss, and it is set up like a standard character, with the animator and controller on the root, and then a mesh and skeleton as children.

I added an animation clip from it’s existing animation controller, and the animation plays, but the boss is moved off camera.

Is there a secret to getting Playable Director to perform animations in place?
