Hello everyone! So I’m working on a game for several months during my spare time. I’m out of school since September, I got my bachelor in digital arts. It is not my first game, but it’s the first time I go that far in the development.
I work on this game alone.
Concept of the game:
So there is a war between two sides that last forever and the main character is the chosen one that can end it. The main character knows that he is playing a video game so his goal is just to enjoy it, but the more he plays the more the NPC’s he talks to seem real. He will have the choice between play the story mode of the game or find secrets levels and try to figure out why the characters seem so real and who made this game.

If you play the game and want to help make it better here is what I’d like to know:
- Is the game fun to play?
- Are you confused or annoyed by the design of the main character?
- Are the levels too easy? Too hard?
- Something else you think I should be aware of?

Made it to the Battlefield of Zhan (or something like that). It’s rough but interesting due to the above average interaction with the environment. Being able to use force to push things as well as to attract objects.
Overall I think it is good prototype. The first thing I’d do is increase the feedback. When you hit an enemy (as in the actual hand-to-hand combat) make some nice thump! crack! sounds to really reinforce that impact. Also wouldn’t hurt to make it so the player’s strikes do more damage. Maybe double what they do now. And to balance that out you could then add 50% to 100% more of the enemies.
Same for attracting objects… there should be a cool sound fx for that and maybe a loud WHOOSH! sound when you release the force outward carrying the objects away.

Yeah I struggle a lot with the soldiers. I already lowered they life by half in a previous build. But yeah if I add more of them I can make them easier to kill.
I already have sounds for the pushing power and the punches but sure I can improve them =) !
In the next build I’ll have two more levels and I’ll try to put more enemies in some levels.

The build 3.1 is up !
The list of what changed:

Scenario related dialogue at the beginning of level 5

We can now attract objects without having to push them away right after releasing them

It took some time but the build 3.2 is out !
I’ve been silent on the game for the past 5 or 6 months 'cause I took a break. I started a new formation, had a new job, moved to a new city… A lot of changes =)
But it allowed me to see a lot of flaws in the game.
So there are two main changes for this build:
- the tutorial level
- the select level scene.
- some other minor changes
For the next one I’ll improve some scripts !

I solved some bugs, the last one is below, solved it yesterday late at night

improved the damages system (using a script where the damages you receive from an object depends on it’s x size, y size and it’s mass among other things)

Added a parallax effect

Improved the camera position

Improved the level design of level 4, level 6 and the tutorial level

I agree with GarBenjamin on this point.
Some other feedback.
I don’t understand the character transition from common guy to ‘hand’ guy when he performs any action. It is not clear why he changes when he jumps and performs actions. Why isn’t he ‘hand’ guy the entire time?
I think the controls are acceptable, but I continued to hit the space bar to jump - just because that is a common setup. Might consider switching the jump to space bar.
Also - I think the game would be great with a simple xbox controller setup. Most platformers need controller input. As I said the controls now are alright but I’d enjoy the game more with a controller.
The game to me feels sluggish. It’s not laggy, but just overall too slow. I think if the game was sped up about 25-30% it would be more enjoyable.

I’m aware of this problem. I never explained the thing about the armors and the bone hands, in the recent builds I added an illustration of the armor in the main menu in response to that.
The bone hand is actually part of the story. The main character wears different armors depending on it’s attack moves. Ultimately I want the player to choose an armor at the beginning of each level and stick to it, but it is too much work for now. I intend to put a dialogue or something to explain with words what this armor is.
I didn’t think of that, you’re right. It won’t come right away put it in my to do list
For the jump I could yeah you’re right ! It’s on my list for build 3.5 !
I’m gonna try to make the game faster and see how it goes.
All those features won’t be in my next build because it’s already done, but some will be put in the build after that =) I hope you’ll play it and tell me if the game’s better !

I discovered the tiles with unity 2018!! I’m so happy. I also made the main character’s animations better. Next thing I want to do is adding effects on the camera.

I still have trouble mastering the “attract objects power”. Some times the main character will be hurt by objects he attratcs. It shouldn’t happen.
