Is there anyway a built Unity3D game can receive updated 3D Models?
For example, If I want the player to be able to replace the existing 3D model for an enemy unit, with his own created 3D model for an enemy unit?
I’m assuming the simple answer is, no. But I just wanted to confirm this before I checked out other alternatives.
probably could do so with asset bundles. or there is an OBJ runtime loader.
As long as the model isn’t a skinned animation, you can use this.

This seems to be what I am looking for, though I am running in to some problems.
Im using the URL method shown in example 2, but it is kicking up the “no normal data found for at least one object… automatically computing normals instead” warning and not displaying anything. Could this be due to the fact that the model I’m trying to pull in is a plane of an odd shape?
Possibly; can you send me the model?

Attached is the model (it’s a 3D laser scan of a moving object, so it is supposed to look like it does… i.e. a weird jaggedy shape).
I have tried importing the model in manually and placing it at 0,0,0 (where the importer should be ppositioning it according to the script) and adjusting the camera to ensure that it is visible, which it is, but not when it is imported.

Looks like it’s working fine. You probably have to look in the scene view to actually see it, rather than the game view, since it’s a quite large and odd shape.

So it is! Bit of stupidity on my part!
Thanks very much!
Thank you for the support.
If you use something like (70, 7, -135) for the ObjPosition offset on the ObjReader script, you’d be able to see at least part of it in the game view. Also you can use the ScaleFactor to scale it down if needed.

Ok, I have the object importing successfully (and testing with different shapes which I have scanned in are working using the same position which is good!)
My next step is to work out how I can rotate the object which is imported using the mouse…
Using a scrip such as this:

Is there a way to add a script to the imported object…?
