Sony has announced that PlayStation Now, a new streaming game service, will be available in the US this summer. There will be both individual game rentals and a subscription service. The service will also (eventually) be enabled on other platforms, such as PC/Mac.
interesting. i remember some other company trying to do this, not sure how that ended up though. hope they have some real good servers to accomodate this, sucks for people with slow internet. wonder if they’ll rollout xbox support lol
Yeah saw this earlier, bit of a shame as I figured their lack of information on it since the PS4 launch meant it wouldn’t arrive for some time (at least a year) and so I went ahead and bought a PS3 a few weeks back in order to play the exclusives I’d missed out on this generation. Frustrating since there were at least two games on the service they showed that I bought the PS3 for and I suspect several more will be on it by public release.
We still don’t know what the library on Now will be and it’ll eventually be on not-Playstation devices, so if you have a computer you’ll be able to get in on it.
Yeah but my point is its too late now, I don’t need it as I got a PS3 for those titles i’d missed out on. Had they announced this three weeks ago I would have just waited ;( Its no biggie, just a shame as I suspect this will end up postponing me getting a PS4 for quite a while now as there appear to be very few exclusives (for either platform) over the next year that i’d want and the few cross-platform titles I’ll probably pick up on PC instead.
i wonder if any people who have already bought a ps4 feel like its kind of a slap in the face. being able to play playstation games with just a tv or on other non playstation devices.
