Please add ability to "Lock" prefab to make it uneditable in scene.

This would be a great feature for large teams. Locking a prefab so it is non-editable would allow us to avoid accidental updates that radiate throughout a project.

Thanks!

I cannot tell you how many times I accidentally clicked the “Apply” button when I thought I was clicking an “Open” button.
It is all due to muscle-memory of the location of the GUI buttons. Big mistake.:rage:

Muscle memory has been used synonymously with motor learning, which is a form of procedural memory that involves consolidating a specific motor task into memory through repetition. When a movement is repeated over time, a long-term muscle memory is created for that task, eventually allowing it to be performed without conscious effort.

Also when a prefab is locked all its children should be hidden so it looks like a single object. And prefab locking should be at the project level, not in the scene.

I liked your original idea, but I hate this one. There’s a lot more reasons to see the children than just wanting to make changes to the object.

And fp

What it it was an option? To hide/see children.
Actually I’m fine if you can see them as long as you can’t move them
