I played through the tutorial. Cool idea, but the execution could use some work. I’ll try to give you some constructive feedback.
Visuals:
The glow effects are way too powerful. The color of the bloom is just as saturated as the objects themselves, and it can be tough to look at. Just lowering the intensity of the bloom would help a lot.
The pits without “lava” at the bottom don’t read very well. Additional contrast there would help. They look more like lines on the ground at the moment, rather than actual death drops.
Gameplay:
I’m not a huge fan of the idea of swapping between the three means of transportation. They use different commands, so why not have them usable at the same time? and then maybe have a button to slow down time?
The wall running doesn’t work well right now. I could barely get it to work in the tutorial, and you need to hit the spacebar to jump while in wall run mode which isn’t explained, and kind of defeats the purpose of having a dedicated jump mode.
I took a look at a few other levels after the tutorial, but quickly decided to stop. It took me nearly 5 minutes of trial and error to get past the last part of the tutorial. A lack of intuitive controls makes the game way more difficult than I think it’s intended to be.
Sound:
I liked the voice, it’s a lot more engaging than just having on-screen text instructions; however, you may want to add some on-screen instructions anyway to help remind the player of what to do (in the tutorial).
It’s in alpha right now, but definitely add more sound effects for the finished product. A landing sound after jumping was the one I felt was missing the most. Also, maybe some background ambience; I’m not sure if music would be the best fit for this type of game.
Bugs:
Only ran into one bug where the camera was constantly shaking after exiting wall run mode. Switching modes fixed it.
Overall, this is a very nice start to a 3D platformer. However, the controls definitely need some work. Good luck!
