Please can you help me with a undoable case?

I have been using a PC for Unity and Blender, but i like to buy a macbook (not macbook pro because is expensive for now to me), i was seeing that some macbook has Intel GMA X3100, but that card is not so good to make games, but later i saw in the apple virtual store that there is a macbook :

That has 9400M nvidia, have two question about it :

  1. Is this card enough to work “decently” without lagging with Unity ? (mean work with normalmaps, bump, parallax, shaders, 100k vertex, etc.)

  2. Actually I have 8500 GT 1GB, what is better between them ?

I really appreciate your answer, thank you!.

  1. Its enough to work decently with Unity.
How far depends on your assets and explicit shader usage but if you don’t use AA and keep basic optimization behavior in mind, its enough to get good looking casual player games (to create something on the visual AA+ range, its definitely to week as lower-than-low end card)

  2. They are both low end. The 9400M likely is slower though if you have a desktop 8500GT not a mobile, but they are both lowest end cards by todays meanings.

oh well, i understood… will take in mind that…

PS. I look something between macbook and macbook pro, they both have the same graphics, 9400M, what is supposed to be the professional thing? processor and memory?..

thank you again!.

No, that’s the same. Professionals require a backlit keyboard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though, the only thing I’d consider more “pro” about the MacBook Pro is the FireWire 800 port.

Not quite…the Macbook Pro has a 9400M and a 9600M.

Not the 13", or the low-end 15".

Well, that’s just the Macbook which Apple decided to rename as “Pro” for some reason. Didn’t know about the low-end 15" though.

hmm, the expensive macbook pro has two video cards, that means only macbook pro can handle two card or… with a normal macbook can i append a new gfx card?

maybe with macbook will be old in short time… what i´ll do…

No. One of the cards is integrated, and you can only use one at a time anyway.

No. You can’t do this with any Apple laptop.
