Okay so i just turned my PC on and it has stuff i DIDNT download, it has some Memory Scan and System tools? and they WONT close and keep trying to scan my PC at first i turned it on and the desktop said my hard drive was missing, PLEASE help me i have NO clue what happend
Go into start>all programs>Start up>delete whatever and stuff.
Once done, press the windows button then r. Type in msconfig. Click the startup tab. Deselect anything that looks like it could be the thingy.
Make sure not to disable anything important. Once done, restart your computational device for computing things.
It should not be open once done. Now, track this software down, and delete it. Get as many virus scanners as possible and spend a day scanning.
If you want to be really safe… Backup all files, and reinstall windows.
Okay thank you sir
Hope it helps. It should, from what I remember from the last time I had the virus .
What you have is is called a Rogue Security Trojan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_security_software
It is very hard to remove. My daughter had one a week ago, I chose to format and reinstall XP, it was faster than isolating and removing the software. The major problem with rogue antivirus, is that they tend to alter windows system files themselves. Meaning that you not only have to remove the trojans, but identify which system files have been altered from their original state. Very problematic.
But you can give it a go …
You most likely got it from opening an email, or clicking a link inside a chat program. These softwares use loopholes in social networking systems to infect your system.
Ahhhh okay ill just reboot
Thank god I have a mac
Just for that, I am going to make a virus explicitly for the mac, and spread it out across the workd
I’ve used mac / windows / linux for various jobs. I like them all. I once had an argument with a friend about viruses, where I claimed that it more often than not the user who invites the virus by doing dumb / risky things, such as executing cracked software and surfing porn sites. And to prove it I opted to remove all live antivirus protection from my PC. It has been years now, I do a malware scan from time to time to see if I “caught” anything. It’s never happened.
My daughter on the other hand, gets an email last week claiming that she " Won a free World of Warcraft Subscription" clicked on the link and BAM, rogue antivirus infestation. You couldn’t click start button, you couldn’t cntl + alt + del, it wouldn’t load malwarebytes, the internet auto redirected to more bad sites. It was toast. It got formatted and XP re-installed. ( its a netbook no biggy if it fried )
Don’t open suspicious email, don’t accept links in chat programs, don’t use cracked software ( pay the poor developers ! ), don’t surf for porn.
It may not work for everyone, but I tell you, my ram is free to compute 3D functions, not bogged down scanning every process !
p.s. it’s ok to steal movies though, it provides motivation for the movie industry to embrace digital distribution and get with the times. 8$ a month for re-runs, come on Netflix, get with the times.
Did I get off topic … sorry
