Hi there guys. Here is a screenshot of a game I’m building (work in progress), but I need some cool ideas that would make the gameplay strategic and awesome! The idea that I’m working on is to make a strategic sniper type game, very much a combination between hitman and GTA style gaming.
That’s good advice from sonicviz. It’s difficult from a single screenshot to offer much advice here as it doesn’t give much of an overview of the 3D environment.
One thing I might suggest is that if you’re planning strategic game-play, a good place to start is, literally, back at the drawing board. One way of quickly iterating your game-play is to plan your environment layout on paper as a map. By drawing in the various obstacles, player’s route, appearance of NPCs, etc., you can then start to plan things such as line of sight for the sniper and so on. If you’re familiar with Games Workshop style turn-based strategy games, you could even start designing your game-play like this using a dice, and cards with players’ attributes and so on.
Otherwise, you can possibly block it out in 3D using grey-box objects. By this, I mean having simple geometric shapes represent the buildings, obstacles, etc., in your environment. You can reposition these quickly without worrying too much about what they look like. Once you’re happy with how your player moves through the world, evades enemies and selects targets, then you can start refining the art detail.
Why don’t you make it a quick short game? You are a hitman in the park there and are about to receive a call on your cel telling which window your target is in, in the far building. Script it so it is a random window each time, and make it a timed game where hi-scores are based on who can do it the quickest. Think, Whack a Mole Hitman.
I might have an suggestion. Before making a hit the player has to assamble his weapon as kind of a mini game.
After the hit he has to disamble it again and get the heck out of there.
