Hello,
First of all, thank you for letting me part of this community. I had a few questions.
What is the best latest software for large scale open worlds?
I looked into Gaia with Sectr (Forum Suggestion) and I need more detail for multiple tiling. And I know that Gaia’s creator hasn’t integrated multi-tiling yet. I looked into Magic Maps, and that does have the automatic remapping - infinite world - effect that I’m looking for, but to what scale? Can I store the generated tile data in a database or raw file and populate it? I also looked into the World Generator Pro and that looks great for Real Time Generation, perfect actually as I’d like to disperse processing as much as possible anyway. Am I missing other possibilities? I did google this and found mostly opinions and suggestions from 2014 and earlier. But I may have missed other posts.
This is for a MMO. I know, I know, it’s going to be an uphill battle, but I’m in it for the long haul and dedicated. This isn’t for people, I’m simulating a new type of AI from dedicated virtual servers/virtual workstations.
Here’s my currently used Asset List:
Gaia
MCS Male/Female
Tenkoku Dynamic Sky
Suimono Water System
I’ve been programming C# for years prior to this, so I’m anxious to get my hands on some of the code for these asset collection I’ve got. But I don’t want to keep going in a wrong direction for months only to have to back pedal and spend a few more hundred dollars on concepts that I don’t understand. One thing I definitely understand is, this will take me months to get running and years to complete.
What do you think of my current configuration base? How can I make it better?
Are there other forum posts or assets that could assist in this endeavor that I was unable to acquire via typical searching techniques? If so, may I have the links?
I appreciate the wisdom and experience of this user group and also appreciate your time reading this.
Thanks,
-Rich
