Hi there! Can someone please recommend a good software for making and editing sound fx? The thing is, most of the sounds I need will be “not from earth”. If they were I could just record them myself with a good recorder lol! What I mean is that I need to make my own sounds for lasers, alien sounds, beeps, and even explosions.
I just don’t want to spend money (that I don’t have) buying pre-made sound effects. Besides, I want to be able to say…record the sound of a spoon dropping and somehow manipulate it into a laser or death sound.
Hmm come to think of it, I might as well read books on sound design/engineering and maybe I’ll discover more about it.
As for the portable recorder, here’s the situation. I have a Yamaha DGX-505 Piano where I happily compose songs or play whatever I want. The thing is, my piano is currently very far away from the piano and I have no other means of recording music properly. I used to be able to just plug the piano into the pc and I can record the wav file without trouble. Now, when I have to record my piano playing, I have to bring an old camera to the piano and play. The sound is terrible! For example, you can hear a big difference in quality between these two:
Days of Wine and Roses - Adeno → Clear Sound
Ma Boy - Adeno → Crappy Sound Quality, so much hissing and other stuff.
What I need is something to plug into the back of the piano (it has stereo/headphone input there, whatever you call it) and just play the piano as the recorder does its thing, then I can transfer the recorded audio to my pc.
I’m thinking of getting a Zoom H1 Handy Portable Digital Recorder, but I’d rather hear from someone who has experience in doing the same thing that I want to accomplish.
Well, any recommendation is welcome, thanks!
