The Game has been released on iPad… the normal-sized pocket edition is coming soon.
Here’s some of the official screenshots, in case you haven’t been to this thread before.
Here follows the original post:
Hi everyone. Tasty Poison are starting a game, this time for themselves (and so on a really tight budget). It’s going to be a stripped down action-RPG Shooter/HacknSlash Roguelike for the iPhone and iPad. Fantasy themed with chibi-like characters. A little Diablo but with shooter controls, a choice of three cute characters and 20 minute gameplays. We have big plans, but will probably have to end up being limited due to budget constraints. Here’s a look at the Dark Ranger, Blade Master and Battle Mage characters as they would appear in game (apart from the drop shadows).
Some in-game shots and hopefully gameplay coming soon.
Cute. Nice texturing work and depending on how far the characters are from the camera, you could probably get away with a 256² or even a 128² if you used some clever UV mirroring tricks.
We in fact built the UV’s just like you said, using mirroring for every body part we could. As far as I know we will be using 256 maps for characters and 128 maps for weapons.
Amazing work!
The only little crit I have is the head of the 2nd character. The part where usually the hair is looks way too low poly, even for an IPhone character. A few more tris would help a lot to make the head look a bit more head like. The texturing work looks great though, I like the first one best
This looks amazing. I love the art and I have high hopes for everything else you guys put out. It’s great because this is exactly the direction I’ve been trying to take with my extremely noob attempt at a simple Action RPG. Hopefully I’ll learn enough on the way to someday pursue the level of work you guys put out.
I love the art style! The textures look smooth too. I also agree with Inkognito that maybe his head could use a few more polygons. Either way, I want to see some gameplay of this when you show it off! Good luck!
Lol, much thanks for the comments, It keeps us going
Here are a couple of monsters, we kept them as low as we could so that we could fill the screen with enemies without hitting performance issues.
You’re more than welcome to suggest monster ideas, our list is full and we have developed most already but any awesome ideas we will take to heart and try to fit in. (With credit of-course)
Mimics, you know the ones that look like treasure chests and then they attack you. Only make them really nasty so players start to get scared opening chests willy nilly.
