I made a little addition to the pCache bake tool, that allows to set the order of the exported points based on their axis position or their distance from the origin / center of the mesh bounding box.

Please give me some feeback if that is something that can also be helpful to other people - in that case I would think about putting some extra effort to make an official pull request on github.

Sorry for the crappy gifs, but I think you get the idea what this feature can be used for… :wink:

So it seems that nobody else needs spatial order in exported point caches, except me :smile:
Just in case somebody stumbles across this post in the future and wants to know how do it, just send me a msg on twitter (@karuma303) because I don’t check the forum here on a regular basis

@kai303

I can see myself needing this as some point.

I’m not using pcache (baking textures at runtime instead but that might change.

here is the modified version

Thanks for making this and sharing @kai303 !
In our new public roadmap (being soft launched), you can add a request for such a feature in the Submit an idea card and link this post as a reference. Go to the Rendering & Visual Effects page, under the Visual Effect Graph section, and vote then comment on the Submit a new idea card at the bottom, in the Under consideration sub section.

Isn’t that the same as the existing roadmap - except in an embedded iframe that doesn’t quite fit properly and gives horizontal scrollbars?

(I guess “soft-launch” gets you off the hook but please don’t launch something worse than the current roadmap. It was pleasingly clean and uncluttered. A scrolling div inside another scrolling page is usually a terrible idea)
