Poor CPU utilization

Hi all,
I notice that the Editor never uses 100% of my CPU for various operations like:

  • Nav mesh generation
  • Mesh import
  • Deep profiling

I use an i7 processor + geforce 970M and was really hoping that I could get things done faster. On the CPU, all cores are used, but total usage is always around 15%. Any settings I could use to improve speed? This could be very useful especially during deep profiling

Im using Windows 7 and Unity 5.0.2

There is no “make it faster/use more cores” setting.
We are constantly trying to improve the performance and make systems utilize several threads and thus cores where possible. For example the new lightmapping system is quite good at it. But it does take time for us to get around to all the systems that could benefit from multithreading.

2019, four years later, unity still can’t use above than 15% of CPU.

Should we expect it to be fixed in 2024 then?
