Would it be possible to just link those multiple spheres as different events? (Like it would fade to black then it would lead to another different image in a sphere)
Yes, this is quite doable (though the technique in that blog post is a bit silly — you don’t need a custom shader).
If you’re a complete newbie to Unity you might need a bit of help. But an experienced Unity dev could probably do it in under a day (assuming the panoramic images were all ready). Consider hiring someone to do it for you, unless you have a desire to learn Unity for other reasons. (A job this size would probably cost around $1000.)

Start with the Learn link at the top of this page. Set aside a few weeks (or month or two) to spend carefully doing the tutorials — as an actually doing them, not just watching them (which isn’t very effective).
Don’t worry about all the things you’ll be learning which appear to have no use in your intended project. All the core concepts will still apply, and many things which don’t seem applicable will turn out to be handy one way or another.
Forgive me if this sounds stupid but are you referring to the games that’s on the Tutorials section? I can definitely do 2 months maximum for the learning curve so yeah that route is feasible for me
