Possible to make TMPro text non-emissive?

I was using a TMPro Text object to put some text on a whiteboard. That looks fine. But then I decided to make some of the text colorful, and found that any colors (or white) are rendered as emissive color. That is, if I turn off all the lights, the colorful text is still fully visible.

Is there any way to get TMPro text to act more like a Lit shader? I tried the different TMP shaders, but they either don’t work in HDRP at all, or they have the same emissive quality.

The TMP Lit shaders are the Surface version of the Shaders. Unfortunately, I still need to update those shaders to work with SRP.
