Postmortem: Level 11 Sale - Easy WiFi Controller

First off, a big thanks to all that purchased Easy WiFi Controller while it was on sale during the month of October!

I looked around online and did find some postmortems of the daily or themed sales, but I didn’t find any that talked about being on level 11 so I figured I’d give back and share my experience and sales data with it.

Thank you for providing details and numbers, you rarely see that!

My big takeaways - The 13 sales in September for free users being only matched in October is surprising. I would have thought that the extra visibility that comes with being popular would have given at least a modest boost in October. I am a free user, and can tell you that level 11 stuff is at the top of every page listing, I find a lot of interesting things just because of that.

The other part that I was curious about was answered in your footnotes, and that is if visibility of one product would lead to increase visibility of your other products. I think this probably has a lot to do with synergies between your products. Do you have data on if pageviews of your profile/seller´s page increased dramatically? It could be that people who bought your wifi controller went to your profile page and just didn´t seem anything related to it. This data may be different for people like Profactor who has an animal pack on level 11 this month which has much better synergies with his other packs.

For me personally, my biggest concern would be about a flood of support emails by such a large increase in customers in a short amount of time. My guess would be a lot of the pro users mainly just grabbed it because it was cheap, but won´t get around to implementing it for awhile, so hopefully for you the support emails will be spread out.

Again, thanks for the data!

Not a problem, happy to provide data and give back to the community.

In a typical month you don’t get a breakdown on how many of your users is pro vs free (you can only tell in level 11 because of the price sold at). So I’m sure the amount of free users did go up vs. normal it’s just dwarfed by the pro users purchasing for a discount.

The number of views on my publisher page did increase but only minimally (not even 2 times normal which is always low). I’m sure it is different for each publisher but at least in my case it seemed that the only meaningful change was on the asset being featured.

This is my impression as well so far. When on sale people are much more likely to buy on impulse for a future project that they won’t get around to for awhile. It’s been 35 days since the start of the sale and support requests have gone up but only minimally so far.
