Power Drive 2000 is not just a racing game, but an action game with a car…that talks.
Set in the future, the year 2000, you must race through perilous environments in a variety of different game modes. The art style is inspired by the 1980’s film and print aesthetic.
Thanks! The post effects can be disabled. It looks more grainy than it actually is because the image is being scaled down and the grain/pixels are being “clumped” together.
Thanks! The car handles pretty well too–although still tweaking things. I think I’ve got all my modeling finished at this point, courtesy of Hyperdyne Motors (a rival of the Knight Foundation).
I agree. If you compare this to Distance - you can also compare Distance to F-zero or some Tron racer if there is one.
Looks interesting - post a video when you can.
This looks really great - and I love the sense of speed and 80’s aesthetic.
I sense a quasi blade runner vibe here also.
The one glaring thing I noticed in the previous two videos is the lack of opponents and random street details.
Before kickstarter I think it’s important to address the ‘no opponents’ issue. It just gives prospective backers a reason not to back.
One other small detail I noticed - the silhouette has something funny looking between the legs. I think it’s an article of clothing, but in silhouette form there’s no way to tell. May want to edit that.
Good luck
Everything else is stunning. Keep up the awesome work!
It will have multiplayer (online and offline). Ghost plays as well. It’s funny, nobody following the game has asked that yet, but it’s something I’ve addressed in an interview for NeonVice and will be mentioning in the Kickstarter.
The environments are a little sparse with detail–still a work in progress. It will be a cyberpunk, Blade Runner type, city come to life in the end.
Now that you’ve point out that on the silhouette…it’s all I see!
