Predicting object position after collision

Hi

I have am working on a 3d baseball batting game and am trying to figure out the following:

After the pitcher throws the ball, the batter hits the ball which then travels in the air before landing somewhere on the field.

I am trying to figure out the best approach to predict where the ball will land as soon as the bat collides with the ball in order to have my fielders attempt to intercept it.
What is the best approach to achieve this? Do you think that I should be using Calculating Lead For Projectiles and A* path finding for this or is there a simpler method?

You can use the range formula to predict the trajectory of a projectile. You’d want to calculate it just after the ball is hit, using the ball’s initial velocity and position as inputs.

Thanks a lot Iron-Warrior, will be testing this out
