What is the preferred and most efficient way to play audioClips? I ask because It’s hard to say what Unity is doing behind the scenes with regards to audio. I am currently torn between two methods of playing audio:
- Single audio manager that spawns and reuses GameObjects to play audio
- Each GameObject wants to play audio has it’s own AudioSource attached and it deals with it on it’s own
Some advantages to 1 are that any GO can play as many audioClips as they want and having a central audio controller makes GO reuse much easier. 2 seems quicker and easier to throw together but perhaps less efficient when a GO needs to play more than one audioClip.
The answers to a few questions should clear things up and make a decision easily. If there are multiple GameObjects with the same AudioClip is it only loaded once? What is the absolute fastest way to get an AudioClip to play?
