Prevent animation on specifc bones

So simple question, not so simple answer I fear.

Essentially I’m looking for a way to prevent animation on a specific bone - essentially this bone will be procedurally altered to look at a point in the scene.

Now the catch that prevents me from just putting a manual rotation override into LateUpdate() is that the angle is being generated by intentionally fallible AI - so the target is only aimed at once every sec or or so, and then a slerp takes place to smooth the aiming.

Any ideas hugely welcome…

well if u r insistent on having this bone attached to your object im not sure what to tell you but what you could do is have it as a seperate object with its own script and parent it it to your larger object so it moves with it but is not animated
