Am I right in thinking that when a product on the asset store ( playMaker for example ) sells at $100 (US Dollars) it is priced the same in Euros making it more expensive for us who have to buy in Euros.
If it’s priced at 100 US Dollars it should be 69 Euros - NOT 95 - which, if I’m correct, seems to be the case with playmaker.
Can someone from Unity confirm: is this the same for all products sold on the Asset Store or is it up to the individual to determine to price for their product in each territory.
Just as I thought, you the developer only get to set the price in USD then Unity decide to increase the price because we have to buy in Euros.
Unity - please tell me you are not doing this just to squeeze out extra profit hoping no one will notice?
Adobe are very good at this: selling their products for the same price in British Pounds as in US Dollars - meaning around a 40% price increase for us living in Britain.
In this age of digital distribution its inexcusable.
Its the same for all.
The EUR price, due to UT selling from within the EU adds the 25% VAT that scandinavian countries have and have to apply for any EU based transaction with non VAT registered businesses (all in case of the asset store with refund handling if you are vat registered I think). Also the USD - EUR conversion hasn’t been updated for a while and with the near daily skews likely won’t be either for some time as UT is located in USD and EUR fields business wise, so trying to use the today conversion ratios or the past 3 months won’t get you anywhere. I would assume its the 1.1.2011 or something even even earlier
and comparing UT to Adobe isn’t fair, cause Adobe is really screwing its users … as british you are still pretty happy and fine compared to switzerland where the delta thanks to the low usd reached a new all time high of “250% the US price” and that excl taxes and for the pure download.
