I am a solo, first time developer in Unity and am close to publishing an Android mobile game in Google Play. I had a question though, how do folk manage the Privacy policy requirements?
I don’t have spare cash to throw at getting one professionally generated online, especially for a game that will likely not make any money, so I wanted to understand what other folk are doing to fulfil these requirements.
Google always wants a public terms of service? I’m more technical and I am afraid this stuff is losing me, is there a free online resource or anything for generating these documents?
I am UK based and not planning to collect any personal info from users phones, the only thing getting stored is their saved game data both locally and cloud based. I also plan to sell an ads free version and implement a global leader board, that’s really the height of it.
I don’t think I can publish without links to this stuff is my understanding in the play store, any tips, experience in this area etc would be much appreciated.
Never even thought about that! thanks for the heads up. I plan on just using Unity ads, so how do folk go about getting Ts&Cs and privacy policies generated? are there standard templates or an online provider for this stuff?
There are templates you can find if you Google, or you can look up other game developers and see what they write, or you can just explain what data you are gathering and why in plain language and if you use 3rd party stuff (Unity ads?) quote and link the relevant parts from their privacy policy.
I liked the first one as it can also create a Terms & Conditions document that the google publishing seems to be asking for aswell. The nisrulz generator also links directly in the policy it generates to the Unity and Google play store privacy policies so I think that should cover the use of Unity Ads and Google play services. Do I have to put a link in for any used third party plugin or utility privacy policy as well e.g. Dotween pro?
I don’t knowingly collect any personally identifiable info on the players only saved game data e.g. levels \ scores \ ads free etc etc so I don’t think I have anything to declare when nisrulz asks me to declare any PII that I collect, its only done through the Unity Ads \ Google Play services as far as I understand.
The only question I have now is for things like GDPR \ CCPA I don’t know where I would stand on these?
