[pro] water disappears under strange camera angles

While using the oculus rift, the texture of the water disappears under a certain angle while looking at it.


Does anyone run into this same problem or know how to fix it?

Heh, asking an oculus specific thread please add oculus to the topic. Oculus is unique because it renders all objects in the scene twice. Such the water will cost you doubly and might even be confused on top, so what water component was you using?

Please send a bug report with a repro project and I’ll give it a test spin and see what I come up with. Please link bug number here. Oh the joys of being able to call this work. :slight_smile:

The water used is the standard Unity Pro water (Water4) in this case.
I’ve taken a knack at trying to reproduce the problem without the oculus (since i don’t own one nor it’s SDK) but have been unable to thus far myself.

hmm… I wonder if it would make sense to make a fake joystick driven rotation controller or something like that combined with the shaders and camera setup will allow people to “pretend” they have an oculus and be ready for it to hit the shelves. Hmm food for thought.

i would LOVE that. in fact i had spoken to OP through a different channel and wished i could help him. but didn’t dare to attempt to transfer assets in fear of breaking terms or functionality for oculus. would be great also for debugging third party assets in combination with rift.
