this is not a unity problem, but maybe some one could help me here.
In 3DS MAX i have created a character with the physics and biped plugin. After exporting it with FBX the complete model is corrupted. Even in the actual Maya Version it could not be imported correctly.
Is there a major problem with the physic plugin and FBX?
How you generate your 3d character model and animation? What tool you are using? Is someone using successfully 3DSMAX with character animation?
i could solve the problem my self. Just export from 3dsmax into collada format (activate bake matrices), reset, import the collada file and then export into FBX format. That’s it, strange - but it works.
You need to convert the physique modifier to a skin modifier.
Download the plugin mentioned in this thread and copy it to the plugins directory of max. It’ll appear under “skinning conversion tool” in the utilities tab. Just press the button and that should fix it. I’ve just had the exact same problem.
