Problem with firing laser in direction of camera

I’m working on a FPS assignment for school and need to create a gun that shoots lasers. I have a two scripts; one for shooting the laser and one for moving it. The problem I’m having is that the laser only ever moves in the positive Z direction. Here’s my code for the update functions in the Shooting and LaserMove classes. I’ve tried Googling my question but haven’t had much luck.

Also, I’m using the First Person Controller from the Character Controller package in Unity.

Any and all help towards making the laser shoot in the direction of the camera would be greatly appreciated.

So my first question is why do you have 2 scripts for this? If you already have a script for moving that is working correctly why don’t you just shoot the laser from that transform.forward since it will go the right direction?

So you’re shooting a laser and trying to destroy it after 40 yards from the scene origin point?

Sounds like you aren’t ever changing the rotation of the transform.localPosition if it always shoots forward.

So is this script for LaserMove attached to a child object of the player or camera or what?

Going to need more details but it sounds like a simple mistake that you need to shoot the laser from the correct transform that is actually facing the direction you are moving.

transform.forward will work super easy as long as you attach it to the object that is facing the right way.
