I have hair that is textured with an alpha channel, and it gets very complicated because with certain settings it appears fine. In 3ds max, when I put the viewport to shaded, it looks like this:
when I change the viewport to realistic it looks like this:
So as you can see, in the shaded settings you can basically see through the hair and see all the hair textures under it, but under realistic, everything is fine, you can’t see through the texture. The alpha channel is correct and it is all white on the hair that’s not supposed to be transparent.
Now when I import the hair into unity, it gets weird. Off the bat the hair looks like the first picture when I give the texture a transparent diffuse. The only option that works under unity for transparency is the cut out options, but even then it doesn’t look as good as it is supposed to.
