I’m just getting started with Unity and am having trouble getting a skinned model to load. I think it has something to do with rigid vs. smooth skinning.
Here’s what the model looks like in Maya:
When I bring it in to Unity, a couple things happen:
- Some of the meshes are not imported. I believe this has to do with rigid vs. smooth skinning. It’s definitely not a problem with the normals, as the mesh names don’t even appear in Unity:
- The meshes that do come in don’t deform as expected.
I’m not an expert in Maya, but I need to be able to tell the artist what’s wrong with the way this character is rigged and find out what the easiest way to fix it would be.
