problem with slow animation speeds on a character in unity3d

hi there, i am wondering if anyone can help me figure out a problem i am having witha character i bought from dexsoft

that’s the character, i’m trying to use it with a 3rd person controller, and 3rd person camera, i have that set up and all seems to be working fine exept the animations seen to “lag” every half of a second or so… ie, the walk or idle animation is playing but all the sudden freezes for a second like it’s lagging or loading, and then continues to play, lags, plays, lags, and so on.

i thought these would be ok models to use in unity as they actually include a unity package in the download you just import straight into unity. one would think it would be optimized to run in unity.

can anyone help me get this running smoothly? it was expensive .

i’ve tried the animation compression and keyframe reduction options before dragging it in, but those didn’t help whatsoever

here is a small test scene so you can see what it’s doing. so i used the low poly model, and theres nothing else in the scene but it, the terrain plane, and a camera… no lights or anything to slow it down

so why is it so slow? when i click the character in unity and open the animation window and play it’s animations they play perfectly smoothly. is it a setting with character controller or the 3rd person controller that’s lagging it?
