Problem with XR rig (Open XR for Oculus2) - falling sensation before hitting floor when pressing play

I am a novice at unity and am trying to configure the XR rig to my project. The issue I am running into is that the transform of the floor and the transform of the rig does not correlate - as shown in the screenshots the Y-axis value for “floor” is 7.1, while the Y-axis for “XR rig” is 0. Both are positioned exactly on the grid so why do they differ?

When pressing play there is a brief falling sensation before the rig hits the floor, and the perceived height of the the player is much shorter than it should be (the falling sensation repeats every time I teleport around the scene).

Basically I want the player to be perceived as normal human height, and be positioned on the floor upon play, without any falling sensation.
