Procedural map in 2d game

Hello, I would like to know if someone could provide me with a link or resource to learn how to create procedural maps in a 2D game, is that the videos I’ve seen do not understand them at all, if someone could give me some resources would be very useful because it is to make and deliver my school project, thank you in advance.

What sort of procedural 2D mats are we talking about here in particular?

Catlikecoding has a tutorial on 2d voxels, aka marching squares: Marching Squares, a Unity C# Tutorial

Though if you’re an absolute beginner you’ll find pretty much any tutorial on the subject tough as it’s not beginner territory.

As Spiney notes, procgen is super-advanced stuff, so expect to spend a ridiculous amount of time noodling around on even the most trivial of things.

That’s just the nature of the beast: think of how hard it is to pick up a phone and explain to a complete stranger what you want without being able to use pictures. That’s what you’re doing, except you are phoning a program, the code you made, to get the result you want.

Personally I love procgen in all its flavors.

Here’s my project with a random gaggle of procgen stuff, both 2D and 3D.
