Key features of ProCOMPASS:

  • Supports Object Trackers or Indicators. Indicators of GameObjects appear on the compass defining the positions with respect to player. Currently three behaviors are available for each tracker: 1. Clip Indicator: This behavior of tracker clips the indicator to the edge of the compass when it goes out of range or compass. 2. Show Direction When Not In Compass: When a indicator goes out of the compass a direction indicating object appears just at the edge outside of the compass. This option requires two separate indicating prefabs: one for direction and the other for regular indicator. This is best for indicating the direction of something like objectives which is far away. You can use it to switch indicator style in two states. 3. Do Nothing: The indicator disappears when goes out of range and appears again when inside. In short, a regular indicator.
  • You can decide whether an indicator should rotate on the compass with it’s tracking object or stay still.
  • Inner area, outer area, offset value for viewing for indicators are customizable. There is also an easy option for changing indicator’s scale.
  • Layer mask allows you to show indicators of layer specified GameObjects.
  • Supports Minimap. Note that the Minimap graphic must be in Sprite form. If you have a texture of Minimap, you can convert it to a Sprite in the Asset Importer setting.
  • By changing the Field of View value, you can set the range of viewing area both for indicators and Minimap.
  • Minimap calibration is now available. You can specify the center of your Minimap at start.
  • You can use multiple compass at the same time which means you can use a compass for indicating direction only and another one for tracking objects.
  • And plenty of additional features. Easy drag and drop prefabs to make it work. Editor helper helps you by showing errors and warnings in the inspector. This tool is also lightweight and designed to calculate everything with efficient algorithms.
  • Two skins are included in the package. But you can modify the styles according to your need but changing the sprites set in the prefabs. Just maintain the hierarchy structure to keep it less complicated.

Update spoiler: The next update (V2.0.0) includes new linear/bar compass with much more features. Get ProCompass today from AssetStore.

Got to say that video of yours in the asset store is very confusing!
Cannot make sense of what those little icons are and what the underlying map represents?
That prim. plane might not be the best floor!!
It might make more sense if one had the asset but pretty hard to understand without.
Maybe you could explain things a bit clearer?
Sounds great in the description but needs more clearer video explanations.

Thanks for checking. To be clear, the little icons are indicating each cube’s position with respect to the player. If you look closely, you can see that when they go out of the compass some of them are disappearing, some are being clipped to the edge and some of them are indicating directions. It is to demonstrate indicator’s behaviors and the cube’s are used as example objects. The Minimap is also random. No matter how your scene is, if you take an overhead screenshot of your scene and use it as a Minimap, it will work. You’re right that the video description is not enough to clear everything. I will try to upload a new video on how each functions work
