Mad professor MacSpeedee has created a test chamber to conduct his research into procedural animation and deforming poor defenseless meshes in unimaginable ways.
This Video shows the new tutorial scene we have created for future video guides to the MegaFiers system, Tony has been busy creating a nice SteamPunk scene and it was fun coding up the switches and dials code which is based on the car wiring system we use in our driving sims. This demo also features an all new camera system with various modes such as free, orbit, path based cameras as well as a Cut Scene manager so recorded cameras can be played back and mixed in any order etc.
You can more information and a demo of this scene on our website at Professor MacSpeedee’s Test Chamber « MegaFiers
Thanks
Yeah had fun getting the Nixie tubes working as well as all the switches, dials etc. The Hard Surface shaders also help a lot.
Wow that is fantastic looking, always loved SteamPunk stuff. Are the switches and dials etc animations?
No all the moving parts in the demo are controlled by proper scripts, ie toggle switches use a toggle switch script which watches a value and has settings for throw angle, speed etc, the lights are also linked to values, the dials and sliders again watch values and have params to control how many steps and ranges. The needle on the dial has a full spring physics system controlling it so you can control the smoothness, friction etc. The Odometers also have a custom script, it all taken from our Wiring system for our vehicle dynamics system which has a full electric wiring model so you build circuits and have sensors etc, an old video is below, the red and green lines show the electric paths.
Hopefully that system will end up in the asset store as well, could do with that one.
They will most likely find their way into the MegaCar and or the MegaControl packages.
Oooo I will look forward to the release of that one, the video of the car doing doughnuts looks fun.
Will the various demo scenes be included in the package at all or even put on the Asset Store as projects?
The scenes use the Hard Surface Shaders so cant be included as they are, I might be able to persuade Tony to bundle up the bits though.
We have just uploaded the Webplayer Demo of the Steampunk scene. Click the links or the image below.
F1 to F3 changes camera modes, with mouse and WASDEC keys changing the position and direction, mouse wheel will zoom, and cursor keys will change the camera targets. Space will toggle the Cut Scene demo mode and keys 1 to 4 will toggle various image effects. You will need a good system as the scene was not done with performance in mind and makes heavy use of image effects etc.

Hi SpookyCat,
The demo was way too chuggy on Chrome.
:?
Mmm, running fine here, can you give the spec of your system? There are a fair few image effects going on so if you don’t have a super duper 3d card it could struggle, pressing the keys 1 to 4 will toggle some of the effects off.
Maybe I had some other programs running unnesacerily. Will check out!
I have an older iMac, with Mountain Lion.
Any chance you will be releasing the Nixie tube objects and system on the asset store?
That might happen, was toying with the idea.
