Profiling - custom frametime targets

Just a quick one,

Could we get an option in settings or a slider via dropdown on top bar of the profiler window to set up a hard-framerate target instead of the built-in auto-scales? Currently developing for quest and hunting for the 72FPS mark.
Disabling the auto-Y-scaling would also be easier to read while profiling with a HMD half-on my forehead

Thanks,
Pav

Yeah, this would be nice. Auto-zooming is often nice for us, but there’s times where it’s super annoying - like when there’s a load spike that takes a second and it forces everything to be super zoomed out. The auto zoom could be improved, but user control would just be better.

It’s a bit clunky, but the only way to ensure that Profiler people sees your post is to post in Profiler Previews. They don’t always have the time to crawl through the clusterfuck that is Editor & General Support to search for things that are relevant

Could also ping @alexeyzakharov or somebody else from the profiler team :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah the quirks of forums :stuck_out_tongue: , can a Mod move it to where it’s better visible to appropriate people plox?

Thanks for the suggestion! We’ve recorded it in our feature request tracker. I agree with the points made about the behaviour - I’ve had a couple of sketches knocking around for a while that allow a user-set frame budget line - and I also find the current auto-scale behaviour jarring too. I’d like to get a chance to improve that.

The team has been focussed on the Memory Profiler Package recently for 2022LTS/2023.1, but planning is coming up for the next cycle now. I hope there is a good chance we can get approval to make some improvements related to CPU profiling. But there is always the possibility of an initiative that is deemed more important and we need to focus on that instead. Sorry I can’t offer more concrete plans right now.
