Program to make a game trailer

Hello, I’m concluding a game and need a program to make a video trailer, like other games trailers, and need a prog to film per example the screen of my virtual iphone.

Thanks

For video editing, I use Pinnacle Studio 15 (not sure if there’s a better one now).

For recording gameplay, I use Fraps. I’ve been using Fraps for years and it’s always been dependable.

Unfortunately, if you’re recording from an external device that’s not your computer, I’m not sure how you’d do that

As lame as this might sound, windows movie maker or Imovie (depending which system you use) are both very viable options for creating a video. Granted they don’t have great capabilities for titles. Perhaps you can make something fancy in gimp and throw it on as a slate with a push in or push out for titles.

Just trying to think of free stuff for ya.

For screen capturing, I really like FRAPS. But if you are not willing to chug out that $30 you can do a nice google search and I’m sure there is something free and solid out there for you.

This script on the Unify Wiki saves out an image sequence at a fixed frame rate. I haven’t tried it myself but it sounds like a good free alternative to programs like Fraps, with the added benefit of the frame rate not dropping due to the recording. It almost definitely wouldn’t work on an iPhone(even a virtual one), but you could just capture it from the editor, and then composite it into an iPhone frame, if you wanted.

Oh wow that’s excellent. Thanks for the link!

After Effects, Sony Vegas

Screenflow is good for capturing stuff, but it has a watermark unless you buy the full version.

I use After Effects

the learning curve is a bit steeper than that of WMV, but it’s good.

If your into having in game footage than I’d go for a basic FRAPS. If your into making a game related but not game footage intro and such, I would go with iClone. Its very easy to use, and camera placement and so on.
