Proudly announcing: uniTUIO released

First off: I wish you and your family Happy Holidays and all the best in the coming new year!

It is Christmas time, so we think it is also time for some good news for you. At least for those of you who are interested in Natural UI, new interaction methods, MultiTouch and the like… Since we announced uniTUIO a few months ago, and entered a uniTUIO-enabled app into the Unity Award contest, there has been a flood of emails coming in asking us if we are releasing the uniTUIO source. So! Here is the ultimate answer: Yes! NOW!

We have completely redone the http://www.xtuio.com site - hope you will like it. Also you will find some new downloads like a sneak-peak of xTOUCH, the upcomming vision system (will replace BBTouch some days) and of course the “uniTUIO community edition”. UniTUIO is free to download but will require a registration on the xtuio site. If you are a registered member already, please login with your username and use the same username as a password. Once you are logged in, please change your password.

If you are an interested developer: please do not hesitate to contact me directly. And if you like what you see there on xtuio: Well, spread the word and let the community grow!

Here is a short video running a uniTUIO enabled application on the FishTish:

Merry xMASS Rock on!

I really like your new website, probaby one of the best (if not the best) Joomla sites I’ve seen.

Good stuff Sandor!

(I owe you an email so it’ll be coming soon! )

Very nice stuff especially the video

But there is sadly one very common error: There is no such thing as a Unity3D engine
Its called Unity Engine
Its only the domain that is unity3d.com because unity has been taken already

Hey Guys,

thank you very much for the kind words! Thre are not so many replys on this tread, but 'm very glad about WHO replyed here  Sorry also for the late reply, but my box is fooding with mails since the release (and that’s good!)…

@ bigkahuna: thanks man! But i also have to say that the joomla stuff is based on a commercial template. But i take proudly my part of the kudos  Anyhow: if you have more c&c (also on the code part), i would be happy to hear/read that point of view from an experienced veteran (UT veteran of course).

@ dreamora: thanks for pointing that out! I’m on 04. Jan. again in the office. The first thing will be to fix that - along with some typos  Glad you liked the video. Did you had the time to watch also the other ones on the site? Would be glad if you would keep an eye on this project??? Gruezzi!

@ Tom: thanks!!! Take your time - i know you have enough to do with other stuff… Thomas sent me also a very nice/interesting PM in the meantime…

For all of you - and also for the rest of this incredibly cool community, i wish a HAPPY NEW YEAR! And as Tom says: Rock On!

Cheers,

Sandor

P.S. Tom - i always had three closing words for my mails: “Cheers” “Rock&Roll!” and “Rock On!” - was glad to see the last one in your mail LOL

Wow I really liked the website and that video.
Especially the water with fishes

@ djoscard: thank you  Please ask if you have any further questions etc.

Hey,Sandor Rozsa

I can’t creat an account in “www.xtuio.com”.Can you give me a projector about

uniTUIO_CE in order to learn?

If you are pleasure to do it ,please make a email to “dianzgh2004@126.com”.

Thank you, first!

Is this still around and being supported? I went to the web site and downloaded the sample project, but there is no documentation (the links in this forum don’t work).

I want to implement simple touch gestures in Unity for iOS, and I’m not happy with what I’ve been using so far. It looks like uniTUIO would be ideal, but I can’t figure out how to use it. And I really don’t have the time it looks like it’s going to take to deduce how it works from the samples.

All I want to do is detect swipe/drag and pinch gestures to rotate and zoom the camera. I don’t need any of the other capabilities. Are there any instructions anywhere that tell me what files I need and how to use them?

im also looking for something similiar to control camera with touch, but like you i too cant figure out how to use unituio.
i came across another plugin but that too lacks any documentation. you can find it at
http://code.google.com/p/unity3d-tuio/
