Is there any reason why I can’t distribute an app to a few people in our group with a just provisioning profile? Seems like a lot less hoops to jump through and a simpler build than doing an ad hoc distribution.
What’s the difference between the two methods of installing apps? Both let me register multiple devices.
FWIW, I’m asking because I’ve distributed a few apps with just a provisioning profile before, and they installed and ran fine. But this was on Macs. I just sent one of these apps (the .ipa version) to a Windows user along with the profile, and they cannot get it to install. This is a non-tech-savvy user, and I’m not much more capable when it comes to Windows, so I can’t provide much help to this person over the phone. And I can’t really tell what problem they are having. Should I just not try to distribute with a provisioning profile?
