PRVTC for RGB + uncompressed alpha channel solution?

PRVTC is giving me some bad edge artifacts in the alpha channels of my images. Is there a way I can use an uncompressed alpha channel, along with PRVTC for RGB, to fix this? Or is there another solution?

Check out the horizontal “broken line segment” in the upper left here, for an example of what happens:

through a shaderlab material and using 2 images you could do it.
But the two used texture units might result in worse performance than a single 32bit image uncompressed.

that is the only possibility actually, as you can either compress an image or not. you can not compress single channels
