So according to different sites you’ll get a reasonable PS3 for just €400. This is a nice pricedrop. Now the only things which are missing are the games…
LBP were are you?!

Hey,
I’ve noticed here in Australia all the major consoles are dropping too, except the Wii.
PS3 = from $599 AUD ( about 1 euro )
XBOX360 = from $299 AUD ( about 1/2 euro )
Wii = Still $300 - $400 AUD depending on package.
I guess people realise your computer can do what the PS3 and XBOX 360 can do, and the Wii is something a little more unique … ?
JW.
O_o There are different packages for Wii in Australia?
@jaydubs
Don’t forget to drop me a line were to get computers which match the two consoles specs and prices. As for the Wii, buy the controller and hope for a good driver than you have all the unique feeling of the Wii and likely more power too.
Keep in mind, all the good games that you can play on the PS3 right now are PS2 games, except for Resistance: Fall of Man. The new “cheap” PS3 can’t play PS2 games.
Yep, the games are missing yet but they are for the other next gen consoles as well. The best in this aspect for sure is the Xbox360. Regarding the backward compatibilty, i don’t need it as if i would be interested in PS2 games i would buy a PS2, it’s cheaper too and i’m pretty sure if the stress is over and things calmed down they still can come up with a pure software emulation.
Having to buy a PS2 AND a PS3, and then not being able to find PS2 games because they aren’t made anymore, is exactly what I hate about consoles. Wires, bulky junk, and unavailability of games…
At least they’re cheap. If it wasn’t for the crappy distribution method (buying a box from a store, and if you break the game, you’re screwed), this would be a nice scheme.
And NO games that use it in a meaningful way! Fun.
Yeh, it’s the included games that make the package more or less expensive … the Wii itself is the same price.

@aaronsullivan
I thought that’s the reason you’ve bought unity for… ;O)
Nintendo has announced that it probably won’t be able to meet demand for the Wii this Christmas … so, lowering the price would just be silly.
Silly, but ethical. It’s not worth that much.
Here the Wii as the other consoles are always available in the bigger stores. I haven’t seen any shortage beside of the first weeks the Wii was beeing released. Could also be Nintendo marketing…
Over here, there are absolutely no Wiis. Stores are in full stock of PS3s and 360s, but they never have a Wii. And yet people buy them every day. Must still be lining up outside at midnight.
It’s not late November yet. Trust me, they’ll be gone. Gone the day after Thanksgiving in the U.S., I assume.
Maybe, we’ll see…
@Moldorma
Were do you come from by the way?
I saw them for the first time since the launch on shelves last week. The store got 30 something. They were sold out in 2 days.
Jessy, what ethics are you speaking of? The demand is there, the value is there to the buyer. How can it not be “worth” the money if people are willing to spend the money? If it wasn’t worth it… no one would buy it. Do you just mean the materials? Hopefully machines are worth more than a bag of parts.
I have a plastic spoon I can sell you for a million dollars. Going fast!
There is competition in the plastic spoon market. There isn’t in the console market. If you want to play all the good games, you NEED ALL the consoles. So each company has a monopoly on their own machine. It’s a rare setup in consumer electronics. Apple is the same way. You NEED Apple’s hardware to run certain software.
The prices for Nintendo and Apple harware suck. I am willing to spend the money, but I’m not kidding myself into finding them to be great deals. I acknowledge that the top shareholders and higher-ups are greedy people who happen to be backing great products. They are not people who are content with making a reasonable living.
Sony, Microsoft, and I know that their hardware is worth more than its components, but they charge less than they pay for the parts, assembly, distribution, etc. I feel a need to play great games, but not to pad pockets of people who probably never played one in their life, and never will.
