publishing a game

Hi all…

If i have a game and want to publish on the internet like a mmorpg, and just want many peoples connect to my game and can chat inside it… can i make it with unity free?.

greetings.

Only if you have a magical army of slaves.

Otherwise you’re going to have a lot of development / running costs.

oh, understood, so is hard work…
thanks!

thats likely the understatement of the year …
an RPG is hard work.

But an MMO is work of man years to just get a stable scaleable server - client architecture (it took BigWorld Tech 5 years), not counting the army of fulltime talented artists to create the worlds, the story writers and the designers for the quests etc

i was thinking about this, and not going to make my game multimassive playing peoples… so is all right,

thanks!

ps: I created before another thread but seems to be deleted… i was only asking why unity is marked as “to make casual games” if this have fantastic graphics support and great render speed…

likely because casual games require a technology to be able to scale down (which the majority of new low costs technology are nowhere capable of, C4 leadwerks and T3D are examples of these non casual usable techs).
to make that clear with casual I mean big fish games alike requirements, not “steam casual” requirements

the single plugin webplayer support is another aspect that makes it very casual friendly.

Casual Games are likely the single most important market for non to low funded devs so point that out makes sense.
nothing prevents you though from using unity for more

thats looks correct 8)

thanks !

Do you mean this one? Perhaps you posted it somewhere and it was moved? For example, this really isn’t a “support” question so much as a general knowledge question as you’re not asking a specific question so much as a broad strokes one. In many cases like this we moderators move threads to more appropriate forum sections, perhaps that happened to your other thread.

Anyway, yes you could but it’s a ton of work as you now know. See your other thread for my personal comments on casual vs. not vs. whatever.

Oh, and rock on!
