Hey everyone,
My brother and I submitted our first game ever called Puppet War : FPS.
Hope it will be available soon(its in “waiting for review” almost a week now ).
I didn’t have any knowledge in programming 6 month ago(we come from the animation field),and wouldn’t have been able to pull it off if it wasn’t for unity and this great forum. So big big thanks to everyone.
And also for the great Sprite Manager 2 which I used to an extensive amount…like for the weapons, droppables, Destructible environment, particles effects and more.
It saved me lots of draw calls and polygon count.
Puppet War is a 3d fps for the iPhone/iPod in which all the puppets of a beloved kids show have gone evil and decided to take over the world…starting with killing you!
The game features:
-Various puppet enemies with different abilities!
-Over 15 realistic and unique weapons to unlock like:
Machine-guns , lightning sword , the funny plunger crossbow , all powerful Minigun, grenades, chainsaw and more…
-Impressive 3d graphics that include colorful studio design and beautifully rendered weapons.
-Funny gameplay and animations filled with cute annoying puppet sound effects.
Hey Brady… couldn’t have done it without your amazing sprite manager 2
I used 3ds max for the models and weapons(which are on sprites)…and Photoshop for the rest.
I had a code implemented for Auto-Aim but encountered too many problems gaining back control after locking on to an enemy, so i had to cut it out of the first version.
Were now working on the next update implementing openfeint,Survival mode and a new level for those crazy puppets to run around.
Hey jrricky, sure.
If you are talking about the weapons, I created the animation in max then rendered them to frames.
Then with SM2 I created sprite atlas for each stage of the weapon animation. Like GUN IDLE,GUN FIRE,GUN RELOAD ,GUN SWITCH.
I put all of the weapon atlas in the same place on screen in front of a second orthographic camera…and made sure they match for each part of the different animations.
Then i just activate the animation(sprite atlas) that I need to play and deactivate the rest of the sprites for that weapon, and if I had more then a couple of sprite atlas for lets say a reload animation, I just play them one after the other.
A new update is out now and it is ‘stuffed’ with loads of new content and improvements: More maps! Zombie ninja puppets! Survival mode! Openfeint and a lot more cool surprises and features!
Also the Lite version is out now and includes an exclusive preview boss battle that will only be included in future updates of the full game.
Check it out.
And Yay we have made it to itunes front page . Though to the “what we’re playing” category and not to the “New and noteworthy”. Did anybody have any good sales impact in that category ?
