Very nice but you should rethink some of the placement of the trees. They completely obstruct the view at some points. Anyways, I understand you aren’t an artist so I am not judging you on that. It looks really nice and in interesting concept. You should work on the jumping as it looks like it needs to be more real. There are some nice scripts on the internet to get a pretty good jump. Some parts (like the ladder) are too dark and it blends into the scenery making it invisible. I recommend making it grey or lighter.
On another topic, what is the story of the game? Who is the protagonist? What kind of game is it? What is the conflict? Is it an internal or external conflict?

The idea is you are stuck in Purgatory. There is an escape but you must advance through the trials laid out to be given a second chance and allowed to enter the kingdom of heaven. The idea is that as you progress the puzzles and dangers will get harder.
The big thing is I want to get the mechanics working. If I can get the majority of the game good to go and I eventually find a decent artist I will swap out all the sprites for their much better replacements lol.
Obviously there is still lot of work, but very good start. Love the atmosphere.
The sounds are AAA quality, easily a great game. Just gotta make the level design solid. Like random torch to burn something. Sprite character can be more professional in terms of animation. Weird tree placement obstructs view +1. Some objects blend too much. I’m sure this is loosely based off “Limbo”, none the less, you already surmount limbo in terms of atmosphere! Good job!
I can dump all the foreground trees, just thought it gave the impression you were in a forest so added foreground trees for that depth. maybe that wasn’t a great idea lol. also wanted to hide some of the game elements so you would have to really look for them to pay attention. I want it to be a slower paced thinking game rather then an all out run run jump jump pew pew.
Reminds me of Limbo, is the game based off of that? Seems to be?

Well, if there is absolutely no way to find that object, then it is a terrible idea. If it is possible to see that object (such as burning down the tree to see it) then go ahead. It really depends. I would also recommend you to look through some game design documents. It really turns the gears of your brain and can give you some awesome ideas.
I have never played limbo. I seen a video and really liked the black and white. That is about as far as the Limbo game has inspired me. Really ive played games since I was 7 so I have a lot of platform games behind me to kind of draw from.
Played the webplayer. Pretty cool game so far. Good work.
As others said, it looks and feels a lot like Limbo. Good job capturing the same feel/atmosphere ![]()
Some things I noticed that maybe could use some improvment:
-The running feels kinda odd to me.
-Environment looks great but some things are too blurry I think and could use a little higher resolution.
Other than that, great presentation so far. Controls are good and sounds are great. And I think your a pretty good artist. So dont say its crap ![]()

The game is making lots of progress every day. I am becoming overwhelmed with the sheer scope of how much I have to do. Building the mechanics and testing the game over and over and over is too much.

New gameplay video. No new sections of level compared to any other video as I don’t want to spoil the game, It does though show some new design and features. The game is growing day by day, There isn’t a day that something isn’t added. Good progress I think for a one man band.

The project hasn’t been updated here for a while. I took about a 4 month break as well. I have ported it to android only and will be releasing it for free with ads. Since i have last updated i have completed the level completely, optimized the hell out of it as best i knew how for android… build size went from 50mb down to 18mb, and have the game in beta on the play store as we speak.
i have had issues with it running on the one S3 that an online friend has to test it, other then that it has been working great. The game (for me… i know all the traps and maze routes) took 45 minutes and about 12 deaths(this is tracked in the esc menu).
Hoping for full release in about 2-3 weeks… Only issue is im short on testers.
Moving much faster then i thought. Got a absolute crap ton of stuff fixed and polished. The game isn’t AAA by any stretch but its my first and if it looks good i will be publishing it to the store for public consumption tomorrow night.
