I was wondering how was this games particle system made?
It’s 2d. Is PS prerendered and animated or realtime?
Was Pyre made in Unity? I believe the particle effects are completely 2D animations. At the very least they are possibly utilizing some variable movement, but I doubt it. They’re really striving to make that game look like a 2D cartoon, so they used a lot of sprites and you’ll notice there’s no camera rotation. However, the characters are rendered models,( they just needed models for proper looking rotation…)
that’s about it for the 3D. FYI I watched some gameplay at PAX east. I’m not a fan of Bastion nor Transistor, but I admit Pyre is a sweet looking game.

I think you need to be an artist, and a talented 2D animator at that. Where to begin, I’m not sure… Photoshop maybe…?
