qdev.net AR developer challenge-will uNity be a viable tool?

This challenge is scheduled for this fall.

You can find info here:

My question regards this line in the rules&eligibility section:

Unity - one of these tools? will we be able to participate this fall?

For those who haven’t seen this:

So…do we need a Unity Android to utilize the new AR SDK? Any Unity 3.0?

Crossing Fingers here for this one. Happy to let Qualcomm handle the detection tracking.

I failed to mention that the prizes are as follows:

and fall in most places is a couple of months away.

Seems like things are progressing along quite nicely … http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=61216&highlight=

Hey guys,

I know this thread is kinda old, but the most important question has yet to be answered (at least I haven’t seen an answer).

In an interview over at UgoTrade.com, Jay Wright (Director, Business Development, Qualcomm) talks about the upcoming Qualcomm AR SDK: Vision Based Augmented Reality (AR) in Smart Phones – Qualcomm’s AR SDK: Interview with Jay Wright | UgoTrade

ok, but what does it mean for us? do we need to buy unity pro + android to be able to use the qualcomm sdk within unity? Or is it available for “whatever license” we are using (free version)?

Would love to see an official answer on this - even if I won’t like it!

Walfish, you should have a look at the thread kitt just put up…

There’s a mention there (by kitt) of a video which includes David H. mentioning :

-Unity AR extension will be available before the end of the year.
-Initially Android but eventually it will be available across the board.

So. That should be the answer then.

from what I recently read, the qualcomm AR kit actually is using unity or alike so it might go “the vice versa path”.

from what I recall when this topic was originally hot, it was also mentioned that this AR will be for android and android only so unless you have android you won’t have AR as their SDK is targeted at their hardware, not general platform usage.
