Hey guys (Didn’t see a Windows) tablet section, so figured I’d ask here.
I am eyeing up the Elite x2 1012 G1 from Verizon Wireless.
I am wondering if this would be good for a Windows based tablet to make tablet games for Windows.
No i’m not trying to make hard core AAA games with it, but what kind of graphics can it handle in general?
Do you know if the Tablet (PEN) you know like a drawing pen, can be used for Sculpting an such?
Might try to get one here soon if I can hear some good stuff about it.
Also (one more question). Sense this has a keyboard and can run a mouse, and is Windows 10, can it run Unity directly in it?
It’s basically a slightly less-powerful Surface 4. I don’t see upgrade options on that Verizon page, but if you buy it from HP you can double the RAM and SSD, bump it to an m7. But then you’re into the lower end of regular laptop pricing, so the question is whether you want a tablet setup that badly.
With a Core m3 CPU and Intel HD515 GPU … will it run Unity? Sure. The HD515 is not a dedicated GPU, that’s probably the greatest weakness. It doesn’t even have dedicated memory. The pen works like any other pen/touch product, but you aren’t going to get the resolution and pressure sensitivity you’d see out of a dedicated (expensive) art tablet like a Wacom.
Hmm that’s strange why they would both have wildly different statistics. I wonder if I can say something to them and get them to up the memory and such… Don’t see why they would sell two different models of it without advertising at least the other one. I would deal directly with HP, but I like dealing with Verizon so I can just throw it onto the bill and go about my day haha.
We’ll I may end up getting two of them, one for me and dad. Would you know if it was capable of playing mobile strike? I know how to get android games on Windows tablet/pc an such. So just wondering if it can handle that kind of a game. Sorry, I just haven’t really messed with mobile very much and trying to make an informed purchase and not going solely off of looks lol.
The sculpting I didn’t really need, was just curious if it had that fancy pressure stuff and what not. Not a deal breaking if it doesn’t.
Even though you can buy a “real” Surface, MS intends them to be seen as a kind of reference platform. Manufacturers are free to vary from that spec in whatever ways they like. Apparently HP thought a slightly lower-performance variant would appeal to somebody. Or maybe they thought they could make a few extra bucks that way, who knows.
That GPU is more about business applications than gaming:
My Dell XPS13 has an HD 5500 which is a little older but quite a bit more powerful, and I consider it pretty close to the minimum spec for getting anything done. I regularly go upstairs to use my wife’s desktop machine (Titan FTW!) if I’m fumbling around in Blender or MeshLab or something along those lines.
All I really want to know is if it can handle most if not all mobile games. Or is it really that weak.
In comparison to the LG G3… I like can not find much info online about it.
I’m not wanting this really for any computer based tasks. I just want to know if it can handle most mobile games. Such as Mobile Strike… (mainly for my dad). And so I can build games for it as well. But just mobile game graphics an such. Not expecting a beast CPU looking game haha.
I can look at this thing all day and not exactly understand what it means, because these things are set up differently than a PC. So I don’t understand anything of what you are saying except that in all practicality, - it sucks. But does it suck more than most phones in terms of playing games (mobile games).
It must not be that bad in terms of games. (The second game in this video) looks pretty detailed for a tablet game.
If it doesn’t start at the right time, go to - roughly 3:20.
I’d like a 10.1" 4K GPS/Wifi/Cell Windows tablet because of the awesome caching of Bing Maps you can do with Windows. Much better than the Google Maps equivalent organizationally but that’ll be a while as they don’t even have a FHD model that does than although my HD HP Stream 7 comes close (no cell & only FHD)
I can’t comment on that one. I have an i5 Surface, though, and I can do surprisingly a lot of game dev on it. I’m more than confident that it could handle pretty much any mobile game I wanted to make on it, though there are of course compromises between using that and using a workstation PC.
The question is what you want out of it. No, it won’t replace your workstation. Yes, it could well be an excellent portable programming machine. I also find that it’s great for doing visual/design work thanks to the pen. And broadly speaking, it offers a great computing experience for anything that doesn’t require a beefy GPU.
I didn’t end up getting it, Verizon, that was the only thing that didn’t offer any type of monthly payments, so couldn’t afford it lol… Ended up getting the Ellipsis 10 Tablet… After having it for nearly 3 hours, already started to regret that one. Good thing I can take it back if need be…
Problems:
1: No way to save Contacts.
2: Things like Skype, the text boxes flicker black.
3: Updates failed more than once to install.
4: Mobile Strike (game) shows the games logo, then shuts off.
