question about adding Steamworks.NET to unity?

hello, a few months a go i was searching a unity package to add the steam api in the unity3d 4.6.2 free edition, i don’t remember on what site i readed that Steamworks.NET only works with the pro version of unity3d, after saw that i have made a work around with another plugin.

now i’m working in another game using the unity3d 5, i know that unity 5 has all pro features unlocked for use in the free (personal) edition of unity3d, my question is simple, the Steamworks.NET package will work with the unity3d 5 free (personal) edition ?

thanks in advance for all the help.

sorry for the bump, but no one can confirm this ?

some googling would suggest that Unity 5 personal edition (there isn’t pro/free in unity 5… ) should support steamworks native plugin… but it’s not a “out of the box” thing.

A lot changed with free/pro when unity 5 was released. They changed it from “pro had all features, free didn’t” to “personal and professional have (almost) the same core features, professional gets support apps (profile/analytics/etc.)”

(has a breakdown of the differences between the two versions)

Thanks for the answer LeftyRighty, i was aware of the changes from unity 4.xx from 5.xx but i was not sure if i the plugin might work on the unity 5 personal edition.

thanks again for the answer!

hmmm been reading some more… I’m not really aware of the details of steam greenlight / game publishing but you might fall foul of the EULA regarding free version.

something to bare in mind at least.

thanks for the info, you have helped me a lot !
