Question about lightmapping and scene lights

If I bake my scene, what am I supposed to do with the lights?

I have one directional light in my scene, and I bake the realtime shadows. All good.
But then am I supposed to remove the light that was used to bake? If I do remove the light, then the baking/shadows disappear.

What is the correct workflow for this? I’ve looked at a few tutorials and they are either out dated or don’t go into this part.

I fell into the same issue last night. the directional light is needed for dynamic objects(npcs, etc). however, the already lightmapped objects(static) wont be lit using realtime lighting.
