question about ordering

are you able a CD when you buy Unity 3D and does
and if you want to sell a game does it cost to buy a Licence thanks

sorry for dubble posting i meant to say are you able to order a CD

We used to humor customers with box copies a long time ago, but I don’t think it’s come up in quite a while… any specific reason you would need a CD version?

If you want to sell a game, yes, you need to buy a license of Unity, but it is one license per person for as many games as you can develop/sell.

Well i don’t really like to Download buy something i like it if you get it in a CD so is it Posible?

Well if you have the trial then you already have Unity downloaded and installed actually. All that is missing is the key to either unlock Indie or Pro features, which is what you are buying.
There are no magic additional things to come with the bought Unity.

Nothing prevents you though from backing it up on a disk for later usage by the way.

As Unity has bugfix releases and upgrades several times a year you will have to download it anyway, at least if you want to stay on the current version …

well all i’m asking is can you order it and get it as a CD?

Short answer: No. Download only.

Oldschool thinking Hawk, worry not… the downloaded version is all the joy you’ll ever need. Besides, a few weeks after you get a CD in the mail, the next version will no doubt be out, and it will be obsolete.

And we all have large enough coaster collections.

B.

I guess there is no reason why you can’t copy the installer onto a CD-RW if you really want a hard copy that much?

+1

Shipping things on physical media only adds to our costs without any real tangible benefit to end users. Besides, as noted above, any CD we send you will then be obsolete as soon as we put out any updates. All in all we feel that downloads are a better way to go for the application installer itself.

Paranoia FTW!

From my own tinfoil-wrapped book of vital tricks: I personally store local copies of all email receipts of online purchases (which 99% of the time includes my serial#) and I print out copies in case I drown my computer (again).

Storing an offline copy of the software itself makes very little sense as chances are that copy will be outdated by the time you find yourself needing a new install.

hey thanks everyone for awnsering my question and helping me out
thanks all
