question about playing back animation

Hi everyone,

I am a bit new to unity, so am still trying to understand how stuff works. I have an .FBX file that came from Maya, and the model has an animation stored in it, I am trying to figure out how to get unity to playback this animation so that I could see it…

So far, I have not been successful in doing so… I see the model fine, but clicking the play button in the scene editor doesn’t do anything except show the model stationary… I am wondering if I need to do something to make the animation play?

I posted a couple screenshots of the inspector tab showing the current settings:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

my guess is the animation isn’t properly exported. can you import it into maya and see if it works that way?

Unfortunately no… I don’t have Maya. My artist sent me the file, so I was trying to use unity to view it. Is that the best thing I should do? Ask the artist to import the FBX back into Maya and see if it plays?

perhaps. or you could attach the file here. others could exam it.
